ATVING               

There are hundreds of kilometres of wilderness bush trails
through some beautiful landscapes.  The trail network
provides lodge-to-lodge connections for any length of trip.

BEACHES

There are 2 beautiful beaches right within city limits as well
as miles of lakeside walking paths and kid's play areas.

BOATING & SAILING

Aside from Elliot Lake, Dunlop Lake, Esten Lake and
Quirke Lake which are all in around the city, there are also
thousands of lakes around Elliot Lake for boats of all types
and sizes to explore.  Elliot Lake is only 30 kilometres
from Lake Huron's North Channel and the North Channel
Yacht Club.  The North Channel is a 112 by 16 kilometre
corridor of upper Lake Huron and is one of the best
cruising waters in North America.

CAMPING

There is a camping park right in the city limits, as well
as many areas to camp in the wilderness.  Mississagi
Provincial Park, just 25 miles north of the city, has many
trailer sites and camp sites.

CANOEING & KAYAKING

There are many mapped routes surrounding Elliot Lake
and over 4,000 lakes and a number of fast flowing rivers.
You can also rent canoes, and guides, in the city.

Car enthusiasts may want to join the North Shore Cruisers.

CURLING

There is a full size curling rink at the Deer Trail Curling Club
and full clubhouse facilities. It is on a "pay as you play"
basis or you can join the club.

CYCLING

The Deer Trail has well paved roads and cycling trails.
The roads are carved through ancient rock formations,
boreal forests and crystal clear lakes.

FISHING

The area is a fisherman's paradise, with over 4,000 lakes
surrounding Elliot Lake.  Many of them are hundreds of feet
deep and hold the largest stock of lake trout in Ontario.
Speckle and rainbow trout, bass, pike, perch and pickeral are
also plentiful.   There are boat launches on many of the lakes
and there are outfitters who will organize a trip to some of
the more remote lakes.

GOLFING

Elliot Lake has a new 18 hole, championship golf course.
The new Stone Ridge Golf Course was designed by renowned
golf course architect Ted Baker.   Enjoy a day golfing amongst
the breathtaking vistas, beautiful lake and northern
wilderness.  Relax in the beautiful clubhouse which
overlooks the 18th green and Ryan Lake.

HIKING

There are hundreds of hiking, walking and backpacking
trails in and around Elliot Lake and the Deer Trail which
offer beautiful landscapes, rock formations as well as
abandoned logging camps and mines.  Mississagi Provincial
Park can be accessed from the trail and there are six nature
trails within the park.  South of Elliot Lake you can find the
Voyageur Trail, part of the provincial trail system.

HUNTING

Wildlife is plentiful around Elliot Lake, with moose, deer,
and bear as the primary species. Waterfoul is abundand
and ruffles grouse in the major game bird. Many local
outfitters offer hunding packages.

ICE FISHING

Ice fishing is extremely populare and fisherman set up
ice huts on the lake to enjoy their sport and many of the
more remote lakes can be accessed by snowmobile.

MOTORCYCLING

There are great trails arround the city for riding and you can
also join the Deer Trail Motorcycle Club.

ROCK CLIMBING

The Cambrian Shield age-old rock formations and surfaces
of the area attract many visitors who enjoy rock climbing.

SNOWMOBILING

Elliot Lake offers 400 kilometres of groomed trails that link
into the Trans Ontario Provincial trail system and is a hub
for the larger network of 1350 kilometres of trails in all
directions.  The area offers snowmobilers both the
challenges of high hills and sharp corners and breath-taking
scenery.  Riders can also access fuel, washroom facilities
and restaurants and lodges along these trails.

SKIING

Mount Dufour Ski Hill is located with the city limites and
offers a 315 foot high ski hill, a quad chair lift and downhill
runs for skiiers of all levels of ability.

OTHER

The City also has indoor and outdoor skating rinks, as well
as beautiful outdoor parks in the summer.  There is also
a large indoor swimming pool with spa a fitness centre
and several ball and soccer fields.
