Roles and Responsibilities of School Advisory Council

  1. A School Advisory Council is an advisory group of elected parents, educators, students, and appointed community members.
  2. The advisory role of the Council will be to provide ideas and opinions to assist the principal and, where appropriate, school board trustees in their decision making on educational issues, The advice should reflect the views of the school community and what is best for students.
  3. School Advisory Councils may not be involved in issues dealing with performance of individual staff members and legally cannot deal with any personnel issues. Under the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act, School Advisory Councils cannot access information on individual students and staff.
